This page vs the other reads
Notion pricing explained is the four-plan map: Free, Plus, Business, and Enterprise, plus who is billed. This page walks one step, Free against Plus, and stops.
Notion vs Airtable is which object you keep. Notion vs Superhuman Docs (formerly Coda) is a workspace of pages versus one living doc. Notion alternatives is stay or leave. This page starts after Notion is the product and the plan is the question.
When Notion automations are enough is Notion’s automation ceiling. This page quotes the Free and Plus cells on that row, then stops.
When free isn’t enough — trial, free plan, or first paid plan is the cross-tool cliff: Zapier Free, Make Free, the n8n Cloud trial, and n8n self-host. This page stays on Notion.
This page is the Free vs Plus step. When the free card is enough. When Plus’s limits earn the price. The Free and Plus listed prices are quoted.
What Free actually gives
These lines are the Free card and the Free column on Notion — pricing, accessed 2026-10-17. The currency control said Price in USD. The page has a Pay yearly and a Pay monthly control. Free is listed at $0 per seat/month, last re-read on 2026-10-29.
For individuals to organize personal projects and life.
The Free card’s include list is a trial of Notion AI, basic forms, basic sites, Notion Calendar, and databases including subtasks, dependencies, custom properties and more.
If you’re using a Free Plan workspace by yourself, you’ll be able to add as many pages and blocks as you like. If you’re using a Free Plan workspace with multiple members, you’ll be able to add a limited number of blocks before you have to upgrade. When you reach the limit, you can still read, edit, and organize existing content blocks as usual, but you won’t be able to add new content blocks.
The grid says the same thing in fewer words: unlimited for individuals, and limited for 2+ members. The FAQ does not print the number. An exact Free block count: —.
A block is any single piece of content you add to your page, like a paragraph of text, a to-do item, an image, a code block, an embedded file, etc.
What Plus unlocks
Read a row only where the pricing page printed a difference between Free and Plus. A blank on the 2026-10-17 read stays —. A check mark with no words is a mark, not a sentence. Both billing controls were checked. These limit words did not change. The dollar in the Plus heading did.
For small teams and professionals to work together.
The Plus card says “Everything in Free, and:” and then lists a trial of Notion AI, custom forms, custom sites, unlimited charts, unlimited collaborative blocks, unlimited file uploads, and basic connections. Plus is listed at $10 per seat/month on the pricing page. Check which billing control shows that price before you pick a cycle. The control prints “Save up to 20% with yearly.”

If you upgrade your workspace to one of the paid plans, you will be charged a fee per member.
Guests are free of charge – but they can only access individual pages they are invited to.
The Plus Plan (with a 1-member limit) is free for students and educators.
That student line is Plus with a 1-member limit, not a third plan. The same answer says it adds more guests, more version history, and larger files than Free.
Notion AI past the Limited Trial, Enterprise Search, private teamspaces, and the other empty rows above are a later step. Their list prices stay on Notion pricing explained.
Signs the workspace has outgrown Free
Stay on Free when one person, files at or under 5 MB, 7 days of history, 10 guests, one chart, basic forms, basic sites, and basic buttons cover the work. Plus earns the step when one of these is true on the 2026-10-17 read.
- A second member is in the workspace and new blocks have to stop. Free is unlimited for one person and limited for 2+ members. Plus is unlimited. The FAQ does not print the Free block count: —.
- A file is larger than 5 MB. Plus file uploads are Unlimited.
- You need a page version older than 7 days. Plus is 30 days. 90 days is the next column, not this step.
- Guests pass 10. Plus prints Unlimited guests. A guest is still not a member. The next member is still a fee.
- You need a second chart, a custom form, or a custom site. Free is 1 chart, Basic forms, and Basic sites. Plus is Unlimited charts, Custom forms, and Custom sites. Conditional logic on forms is the next column.
- You need a second notion.site domain, Advanced SEO, site customizations, or a custom domain. Free is 1 domain and Basic SEO. Plus is 5 domains, Advanced SEO, a check mark for site customizations, and Pay per domain.
- Choosing pages to download is not enough. Plus downloads Recents and Favorites for offline use.
- Basic buttons are not the automation. Plus prints custom database automations. Connected properties and priority support are empty on Free and a check mark on Plus.
A full Notion Agent, Enterprise Search, or a private teamspace is not on this list. Those cells match on Free and Plus. The four-plan map is Notion pricing explained.

When has a workspace outgrown Free?
When a second member means new blocks stop, and the FAQ does not print the block count. When a file is over 5 MB. When you need a version older than 7 days, more than 10 guests, more than one chart, a custom form, a custom site, or a second notion.site domain. A second member is still a paid seat once the workspace is on Plus. Notion AI past the Limited Trial is not this step.
Does Plus make the next member free?
No. The pricing FAQ says a paid plan charges a fee per member. A paid seat is a license for one member. Guests are free of charge and can only access the pages they are invited to. Plus changes the guest cap from 10 to Unlimited guests. It does not turn a member into a guest.

Business and Enterprise prices, the Plus price under each billing control, credit packs, custom domains, prorated seats, and a bill for several members are on the Notion pricing page, not here. The student FAQ says the Plus plan with a 1-member limit is free for students and educators. The FAQ does not print an exact Free block count or a trial length.
Does Plus unlock Notion AI past the trial?
No. Free and Plus cards include a trial of Notion AI. The grid prints Limited Trial for Notion Agent, Meeting notes, and Research mode on both. Enterprise Search is empty on both. Data retention stays 30 day retention on both. A check mark for those AI rows is a later column. A trial length: —.

A stay-or-leave list is Notion alternatives. The cross-tool free cliff is When free isn’t enough. This page is only the Free to Plus step.
