Who is billed

The pricing page’s own words are Doc Maker, Editor, Viewer, and Guest Editor. The bill follows Doc Makers. Editors and Viewers are free. Read 2026-10-16.

Doc Makers have the power to create new docs and templates, create and manage folders to organize the workspace. Within docs, Doc Makers can administer tasks such as adding pages, changing doc and page titles and icons, adjusting the timezone, configuring doc and page locking, etc.

Editors can edit content and collaborate in existing docs & pages, including adding tables & views, constructing formulas & buttons, adding and configuring Packs & automations, etc.

When upgrading a free workspace to a paid plan, you get access to role-based permissions: each member can be either a Doc Maker (Admin), a Doc Maker, or an Editor. As you grow into Superhuman Docs, you can invite additional members to become Editors or Doc Makers in your workspace. Editors and Viewers are always free.

At the end of each billing cycle, you will be billed for the workspace based on the number of Doc Makers in it. Any changes to the number of Doc Makers in the workspace mid-cycle are automatically prorated.

When you sign up for a new plan, as well as when it renews, you will be billed up front for all the users in your workspace.

Whenever you add a new paid user to your workspace (or upgrade an existing one), we'll prorate them for the remainder of your billing cycle. On the annual plan, you will be charged monthly for these additional membership changes, with prorations applied for the remainder of the billing year.

Even on Enterprise, you pay only for Doc Makers.

One FAQ says the bill is the number of Doc Makers. Another says a new plan is billed up front for all the users. The Enterprise answer says you pay only for Doc Makers. This page quotes all three. A rule that erases one of them: —.

Guest Editors are free, just like Editors in your workspace.

All Editors and Viewers in a workspace are free! Viewers can open any shared link to a doc and view and comment on it.

The same answer says a person outside the workspace is added as a Guest Editor, and that you can turn that ability off. Guest Editors can edit the doc shared with them. They cannot add and manage pages, or browse the workspace or folder. Removing members or canceling the plan applies a prorated credit for future charges. The same FAQ also sets a bill threshold for when added members are charged; check it on the pricing page.

Limits that usually force the next plan

These rows are the comparison grid on the same pricing page, 2026-10-16. Columns run free, pro, business, enterprise. A cell with a check mark and no words is written “Check mark” here. An empty cell is —. The Docs AI assistant row, the AI views and pages row, and the Databases row each print a Beta mark. The grid has more rows for connectors, forms, security, and support. Those rows are not repeated here.

When a limit should push a comparison

Stay on this page when the decision is the next Coda plan: another Doc Maker, pages past “Limited for shared docs,” an attachment past 1Gb per doc, an automation quota past Low quota or Medium quota, version history past 7 days, hidden pages, locking, or Docs AI past the Limited trial. Verify the live workspace before you buy. The numbers above are the public grid, not your invoice.

Compare hubs when the object is the problem, not the cap. A workspace of pages is Notion vs Superhuman Docs (formerly Coda). A base of linked records is Airtable vs Superhuman Docs (formerly Coda). The rename note is Coda is now Superhuman Docs. A stay-or-leave list is Superhuman Docs (formerly Coda) alternatives. Name the hub before you wire other apps on Name one system of record.
