This page vs the other reads

Coda pricing explained is the four-plan map: Free, Pro, Business, and Enterprise, plus the full billing FAQ. This page walks one step, Free against Pro, and stops.

Coda is now Superhuman Docs is the rename on 8 Jul 2026. The pricing page uses the Superhuman Docs name. This page keeps Coda in the title because that is the search.

Notion vs Superhuman Docs (formerly Coda) is a workspace of pages versus one living doc. Airtable vs Superhuman Docs (formerly Coda) is a base versus one doc. Superhuman Docs (formerly Coda) alternatives is stay or leave. This page starts after Coda is the product and the plan is the question.

When free isn’t enough — trial, free plan, or first paid plan is the cross-tool cliff: Zapier Free, Make Free, the n8n Cloud trial, and n8n self-host. This page stays on Coda.

This page is the Free vs Pro step. When the free card is enough. When Pro’s limits earn the price. Both price lines on the Pro card are quoted. Later-plan dollars: —.

Who pays

The upgrade is a Doc Maker bill, not a bill for every person in the doc. These sentences are the pricing FAQ on Superhuman Docs — pricing, accessed 2026-10-20. There is no billing switch.

Doc Makers have the power to create new docs and templates, create and manage folders to organize the workspace. Within docs, Doc Makers can administer tasks such as adding pages, changing doc and page titles and icons, adjusting the timezone, configuring doc and page locking, etc.

Editors can edit content and collaborate in existing docs & pages, including adding tables & views, constructing formulas & buttons, adding and configuring Packs & automations, etc.

When upgrading a free workspace to a paid plan, you get access to role-based permissions: each member can be either a Doc Maker (Admin), a Doc Maker, or an Editor. As you grow into Superhuman Docs, you can invite additional members to become Editors or Doc Makers in your workspace. Editors and Viewers are always free.

At the end of each billing cycle, you will be billed for the workspace based on the number of Doc Makers in it. Any changes to the number of Doc Makers in the workspace mid-cycle are automatically prorated.

When you sign up for a new plan, as well as when it renews, you will be billed up front for all the users in your workspace.

That last sentence is next to “Editors and Viewers are always free” and next to “billed for the workspace based on the number of Doc Makers in it.” This page quotes all three. A rule that erases one of them: —. A prorated dollar: —. A bill for several Doc Makers: —.

Guest Editors are free, just like Editors in your workspace.

The same answer says all Editors and Viewers in a workspace are free, and that Viewers can open a shared link, view, and comment. They cannot see the full workspace or folder. A guest is not a Doc Maker. Adding a guest does not, on these sentences, start the Pro bill.

The billing FAQ also names a dollar at which added members trigger another charge. That dollar stays on Coda pricing explained. A threshold dollar on this page: —.

What Free actually gives

These lines are the Free card on Superhuman Docs — pricing, accessed 2026-10-20 at 10:19 America/Vancouver. The card was in the visible text at a phone-width window and at 1440px. Free is $0 USD, with no second price line.

The Free card’s include list is collaborative docs, Try Docs AI, Try MCP, connected tables, views, and forms, and formulas and automations. Docs AI is described on the card as an assistant that helps you write, build docs, and automate tasks. The card also prints Grammarly (trial) and Go (trial).

Docs AI is available during Beta for Doc Makers.

Whilst in Beta, Docs AI is included in any paid plan with unlimited access (fair use policy applies). The Free plan includes a limited number of trials.

A trial count: —. A fair-use number: —.

What Pro unlocks

The Pro card prints $12 USD, or $15 when billed monthly. There is no billing switch, so compare both lines on the pricing page before you pick a cycle.

The Pro card says “Everything in Free, plus:” and then lists unlimited doc size; write, edit, and ask with AI (Beta); build AI trackers, pages, and views (Beta); create with Claude and more via MCP; 30-day version history; hide specific pages; and custom icons, branding, and domains. It prints Grammarly and Go, without the trial label on the card.

The comparison grid is a second read of the same page. It was in the visible text in a wide desktop window (about 1080px and up), checked 10:22 America/Vancouver. It was not in the visible text in a phone-width window. The “See all features and compare plans” control was hidden at that narrower width, and activating it did not show the grid. The header prints the plan names in lowercase. A check mark with no words is a mark, not a sentence. Read a row only where Free and Pro differ.

Databases, locking, unlimited automations, unlimited version history, hourly connector refresh, cross-doc actions, subfolders, and Mail are a later column. Their list prices stay on Coda pricing explained. A Business or Enterprise dollar on this page: —.

When Pro earns the step, and when to stay

Stay on Free when one shared doc still fits “Limited for shared docs,” files stay within 1Gb per doc, 7 days of history is enough, Low quota automations cover the work, and a manual connector refresh is enough. Stay when the people you add are Editors, Viewers, or Guest Editors. The FAQ does not print a Free member cap. A Free member cap: —.

Pro earns the step when one of these is true on the 2026-10-20 read, and you will pay for a Doc Maker.

  • A shared doc hits “Limited for shared docs,” or the doc itself has to grow past the size the Free card leaves unnamed. Pro is Unlimited for pages and objects, and the Pro card prints Unlimited doc size. An exact Free object count: —.
  • A file pushes past 1Gb per doc. Pro is 5Gb per doc. Unlimited attachments are the next column.
  • You need a version older than 7 days. Pro is 30 days, and the card prints 30-day version history. Unlimited history is the next column.
  • Low quota automations are the blocker. Pro is Medium quota. Unlimited automations are the next column. A run count: —.
  • A manual connector refresh is not enough. Pro is Daily refresh. Hourly is the next column.
  • You need form branding or conditional logic, cross-doc tables past the Free “limited” line, hidden pages, a custom domain, or custom icons. Free forms are already Unlimited. Pro adds the branding and logic. A domain dollar: —.
  • The Docs AI trial, the AI views trial, or the MCP trial is the blocker. Pro prints a check mark on those rows. The FAQ says paid plans include Docs AI and MCP with a fair use policy, and it does not print the policy’s number. A trial count: —.
  • You need Grammarly past the Free trial. On the grid, Grammarly is included on annual Pro and priced per Maker on monthly. Go moves from Limited trial to a check mark.

A new Editor does not, on the FAQ, start this bill. A Doc Maker does, once the workspace is on a paid plan. The role split itself is described as something you get when you upgrade a free workspace.

If you outgrow Pro

Business and Enterprise are the later cards. Use them when the blocker is past this step: databases, unlimited automations, unlimited version history, locking, private folders, or Mail. Their list prices stay on Coda pricing explained. The Enterprise card prints Custom. A Business or Enterprise dollar on this page: —.

Even on Enterprise, you pay only for Doc Makers.
