What this page tells you. When paying Make for a year up front is worth the lock-in, and when a monthly cycle is the better fit. This page shows what each cycle does to payment, credits, and leaving, from Make’s pricing page and Help Center, accessed 2026-10-04. The credit-slider dollar labels were not in that text. Those dollars stay —. A savings figure stays —. Verify before buy. It does not add new scores.

This page vs the other Make reads
When Make is the right pick is whether Make is the product. This page starts after that yes.
Make pricing explained is how the plan column and the credit volume fit. This page does not reprint that map.
Make Free vs Core, Make Core vs Pro, Make Pro vs Teams, and Make Teams vs Enterprise are one step at a time. This page does not pick a column.
Make credits and operations is what the two words count. This page names how a cycle expires credits, then stops.
When free isn’t enough is what a free plan unlocks. Free is not a monthly-versus-annual purchase on this page.
This page is the cycle. Pay the year up front, or keep a month. Which plans get the annual credit package. What cancel and a cycle change do. Where the public dollar was missing on the 2026-10-04 text read.
What monthly and annual each do
These lines are from Make — monthly and annual subscriptions and Make pricing, text captured 2026-10-04. A dollar that was not in that text stays —.

| Cycle | What you pay | What happens to credits | Dollar |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly | The billing cycle is one month. Help Center example: subscribe on January 12, and the next payment is due on February 12. | A monthly allocation in the tier you choose. The pricing FAQ says credits expire at the end of the term. Extra credits on a monthly subscription expire after one month. | — |
| Annual | You pay the whole yearly amount up front. | Help Center: there is no monthly credits allotment, and the bulk of credits is available across the year. Core is the exception in the next row. | — |
| Core on annual | An annual subscription is still a choice. It does not buy the annual credit package. | Help Center: with Core you always have monthly allocated credits, even on an annual subscription. Extra credits expire at each monthly reset. | — |
| Enterprise | The comparison-table button on that column is Talk to sales. | Not printed as a public monthly-or-annual card on this read. | — |
If you have a monthly subscription, your billing cycle is one month, and you have a monthly allocation of credits in the tier you choose. For example, if you subscribe on January 12th, your next payment is due on February 12th.
If you have an annual subscription, you pay the whole yearly amount up front, and we allocate all the credits that belong to the specific plan and tier you chose. There is no monthly credits allotment, but the bulk of credits is available for you to use flexibly over the year.
The pricing page shows the labels Pay monthly and Pay annually. A dollar beside either label was not in the text captured 2026-10-04. Those dollars stay —.

Which plans get the annual package
Paying annually is not the same package on every column. The Help Center names the exception.
With the Core plan, you always have monthly allocated credits, even if you have an annual subscription. Only Pro and Teams plans have an annual package of credits.
Credits usage flexibility with yearly billing. Prepay for annual credits that only expire after 12 months instead of each month.
That comparison-row text was in the capture. Which columns showed a check was not. Those checks stay —. The sentence that names plans is the Help Center line above: Core stays on a monthly allocation, and only Pro and Teams have the annual package.
For the Core plan with annual billing, your regular credits reset monthly, and any extra credits you purchase will also expire at each monthly reset.
The pricing FAQ says extra credits expire after one month on a monthly subscription, or at the end of one year for an annual subscription on Pro and Teams. The extra-credits page says extra credits on an annual plan stay valid until the end of the billing year, then states the Core exception. What a credit counts is on Make credits and operations.

When the year up front earns it
Read one situation at a time. A blank on the 2026-10-04 text capture stays —.
Swipe sideways on a narrow screen. Not a scored table.
| Situation | Cycle that fits | Why, from the pages read |
|---|---|---|
| Pro or Teams, and you can pay the year up front | Annual | Help Center: only Pro and Teams have an annual package of credits. The bulk is available across the year. The pricing row says prepay for annual credits that expire after 12 months instead of each month. |
| Core | Monthly | An annual Core subscription still allocates credits monthly. Extra credits you buy expire at each monthly reset. Paying the year up front does not buy the annual package. |
| You may leave inside the year | Monthly | Annual is paid up front. The pricing FAQ says cancel runs to the end of that month’s billing cycle or the end of the annual plan term. A drop from an annual tier to a lower monthly tier is a downgrade. |
| You may step the credit tier up and stay | Annual can be the upgrade | Help Center: monthly to annual at an equal or higher tier is an upgrade. The printed example is 10,000 per month in Pro to 120,000 per year in Pro. |
| Free | Neither paid cycle | The Free card is 1,000 credits/month, and the page says there is no time limit on the Free plan. This page does not treat Free as a monthly-versus-annual purchase. |
| Enterprise | Talk to sales | No public dollar on this read. That dollar: —. |
Yes, prices are cheaper with the annual payment in advance compared to monthly payments.
That is the discount sentence on the pricing FAQ. A converted savings figure was not in the text. That figure stays —. Card dollars stay —.
What cancel and a cycle change do
The lock-in is the year already paid, and what Make does if you leave or change tier before that year ends.
Changing from a monthly to an annual subscription to an equal or higher tier is an upgrade (e.g., from 10,000 per month in Pro to 120,000 per year in Pro).
Changing from an annual to a monthly subscription to a lower tier is a downgrade (e.g., from 240,000 credits per year in Pro to 20,000 credits per month in Pro).
The pricing FAQ says a downgrade charges the card immediately and sets a new subscription. The next charge is in a month on a monthly subscription, and in a year on an annual subscription. Unused credits transfer to the new subscription and stay valid for the next month or the next year.
If you cancel your subscription to Make, your paid plan will run until the end of that month's billing cycle or the end of the annual plan term.
When you cancel your subscription, we won't charge you for the next month, and you can still use your current subscription until the end of your billing cycle.
The same cancel page says unused credits do not transfer to the Free plan, and that this applies to both monthly and annual subscriptions. The pricing FAQ names the end of the annual plan term. A single reading that picks one of those sentences over the other: —.
Enterprise stays a sales conversation. The comparison-table button on that column is Talk to sales. An Enterprise dollar on this read: —.
Cycle change: Make — monthly and annual subscriptions. Cancel: Make — cancel your subscription. Accessed 2026-10-04.
